We are all prepared to welcome our joyful learners back to campus for the new academic year. The Northstar team has put in a lot of time and effort to provide our learners with the best possible experience. Numerous workshops and trainings have been organized for educators. Like every year, this year's journey will include both old and new learners, as well as old and new experiences. Our little ones have a lot to learn and look forward to.
We are happy to welcome K1 and K2 learners back to school after a long summer vacation. Since we understand how vital it is for toddlers to adjust to a new environment and spend extended periods of time away from home, our educators have created a thoughtful transition program to help them adjust to their new surroundings before the start of the new academic year.
At our Nest campus, the Transition Program will include a variety of activities based on Social Emotional Learning, Body Language & Expressions, Creative Movement, Color Fun, Intellectual Games, and Pretend Play. Here are a few snippets of the same.
Learners of grades 5 & 6 explored the topic, 'The Loop of Supply & Demand'. They understood the role of supply and demand, distribution channel of goods & services, and individual responsibility as consumers.
Supply, demand, buy, sales, need, want, consumption, and production were among the economic terminology that learners learned, and discussed. They connected the concepts above to a variety of economic activities. During Activity, learners were required to produce a list of all products utilized throughout the day, as well as the price of each item. In Activity 2, learners acted as sellers and buyers in a role-play. Buyers were given a set amount of money to spend. Sellers needed to implement some sort of strategy to make a profit. Prices were altered in real-time on a live dashboard. Following the activity, a discussion about product demand and supply was held.
They also comprehended the relationship between supply and demand, also the factors that influence it. The term "distribution" was understood by the learners,and the various distribution channels through group activities. Each group of learners was given the task of sketching out a supply chain procedure for any product of their choice. They then had to present it to the rest of the class. Illustrations and arrows depicting the flow of the supply chain were used to highlight the important supply chain stages.
Learners visited Forest Hills, a dairy farm that seeks to offer milk in its natural form to its consumers, as part of their exploration topic, 'The Loop of Supply & Demand.' Mr. Siddharth, the owner, patiently explained the entire milking process to our learners, from the cow to our doorstep. They also understood the importance of an individual's role and responsibilities as a consumer.
Dr. Nirav Mandavia, Associate Professor, School of Management, RK University, Ph.D in Marketing, and Dr. Aarti Joshi, Director, School of Management, RK University, Ph.D in Marketing, were invited to share their knowledge and expertise on the role of supply and demand in distribution channels with our learners as guest experts. A Mind Map of what consumer rights and responsibilities are in general was created by the learners. Several probing questions were posed, leading to various phrases and actions aimed at improving their awareness of their rights and obligations.
The supply and demand loop was well comprehended and explored by learners and educators.
Fashion is personal, and it is always present in one's life. It is beyond clothing, it gives you the freedom to select how you want to present yourself to the rest of the world. Learners in grades 7 and 8 are exploring the topic 'Fashion as a form of Expression' to fully comprehend the term and evaluate its elements.
Learners were able to define ‘Fashion’ and analyze what it represents. They also discovered several socio-cultural norms that influence how people present themselves, as well as the impact these standards have on people's appearance and behavior. The learners were given chits to write about how they view fashion and what it means to them, and a mind map was drawn on the board to further represent the concept.
To have a better and deeper understanding of the theme of 'Fashion,' various articles, movies, TED talks, and posters were exhibited, and discussions were led. Learners discovered many qualities that we utilize to express ourselves in society. Learners then, were given many circumstances in which they had to identify the differences in how they behaved in each one. Fashion role plays were presented considering factors such as social and cultural, psychological, economic, environmental, and political.
Bhagyashree Mehta, a social entrepreneur on a mission to revive and preserve the traditional and cultural crafts of various parts of India, had been invited as guest speaker to deliver a session to 7th-8th graders. The expert discussed how different cultures and fashions enable people to represent themselves responsibly in society. Movie clips from Rangeela and Titanic were shown to highlight how appearance and conduct differ on the same occasions. Which describes how our perceptions and behavior of others are influenced by their appearance and look.
By the end of the explorations, learners could see how fashion goes beyond clothing and is a means of expression in one's life.

In the blink of an eye, another class of The Northstar School graduates, leaving behind immeasurable imprints. The Northstar Family wishes the class of 2022 every success in their future endeavors. We recently organized a farewell celebration to wish 'adieu' to the batch of 2022 learners, carrying the Northstar spirit to institutions around the world, with a myriad of emotions brimming in the hearts of the Northstar family.
As our joyful young adults prepared to venture out into the world, parents and educators were filled with pride. Graduates tied knots of thread with a bell in the harbinger of hope(courtyard) and scribbled their hearts out in postcards, leaving behind their memories. Farewell 2022 was an evening to remember, with intriguing games, valedictory speeches, video of their journey at The Northstar School, and colorful presentations. Sharing a few snippets of the same.
Every year on February 21st, the world commemorates International Mother Language Day.
The Northstar School celebrates the day to raise awareness about the importance of the mother language through a variety of activities. At Northstar, we believe in breaking up routines and providing learning opportunities through thematic and enjoyable activities.
All humans are born with the ability to learn a language.The Northstar School celebrated this International Mother Language Day by creating memories through fun activities while also learning about the significance of Matrubhasha in their lives.
Learners practiced various Gujarati rhymes, drew numbers artistically, and participated in outdoor games such as છલક છલાણું, ટામેટું રે ટામેટું, ધમાલ ધોકો ધમ ધમ થાય.
Every year, our learners in grades 5 through 12 make the best of the ‘Dusk & Dawn’ event and take a much-needed break from studying. This year, it wasn't just a break from their academics; it was also a break from all that was happening on around them as a result of the pandemic. Learners were in a secure and enjoyable setting where they could make the most of their time.

From dusk to dawn, learners could participate in a variety of activities planned by their educators, including athletics, artwork, music, and games.
Learners and educators danced, sang, conversed, gazed at the stars and stayed up all night to the sun.
Humans have a yearning to explore the unknown, find new worlds, push the scientific and technological boundaries, and then push even farther. The Moon poses a variety of fascinating engineering difficulties.
Our learners of grades 3 & 4 explored the topic, 'Lunar Exploration - Exploring the Unknown'. They not only comprehended why we desire to explore the moon, but they also had a greater understanding of the role of courage in lunar exploration and the laws and ethics that govern lunar exploration and travel.
Learners grasped the brief history of the moon landings, identified the risks/challenges for lunar explorations, and read fact files and watched videos/documentaries of renowned astronauts. The word ‘courage’ was introduced to the learners, and they were asked to demonstrate a time in their lives when they had to display courage. Then, in relation to Lunar missions or any other space missions, a connection between this word and the emotion of being daring was made.
The founder of Northstar School, Mohit Patel, enjoys observing the night sky. He has spent countless hours researching and merging his passions for astronomy and photography. He was invited as a guest speaker to share his knowledge of lunar features with learners in grades 3 and 4. He explained how lunar features are named and presented a quick overview of lunar observations using telescope, and also explained the telescope's parts and functions.
By the end of the explorations, learners had learned to recognize the benefits and drawbacks of lunar explorations in terms of human settlement, colonization, and transport, as well as the high costs involved. Learners were supposed to submit a creative poster stating whether they supported or opposed human colonization, as well as persuasive writing supporting their perspective.
Throughout the explorations, both educators and learners had a fascinating experience and discovered astounding facts.
